Self care is important. Life can be stressful & having a regular self care routine can assist you in not becoming overwhelmed.

Self-care clearly involves taking care of oneself. However, this goes beyond having a normal hygiene routine. This entails making a concerted effort to do something good for yourself. This is especially important for woman, considering that women have a reputation for always taking care of others and letting her own needs get placed on the back burner. Many of us haven’t practiced self care for so long that it seems almost impossible to know where to even begin. These self care tips will give you a great place to start.

Self care ideas

  • Make a collage of the real you or who you want to become-

You don’t have to be artsy to be able to do this fun project. Only construction paper, magazines or newspapers, scissors, and glue are required. Cut out anything that pops out at you that you like or feel drawn toward. This includes images of people and things as well as words. You’ll be surprised at what your collage will reveal about you. This can be very personally fulfilling and will be a great visual for you to continue to look at in order to keep things in perspective.

  • Go do something with friends or family-

If you’ve been too busy to spend time with your family and friends, this is a great alternative. Go out with a close friend you haven’t seen in a while or do something fun with your family. Going to lunch, the movies, or a local event are all good options to choose from. If these aren’t your style, try doing a favorite past time that you haven’t done in a while.

  • Have some quiet “you time”-

Use this time to relax, meditate or dream about what you want to do in life (not your to do list). This is a great way to center yourself for the day and to start the day off in a positive direction.

  • Listen to music-

It has long been established that music has an influence on one’s mood. Turn on your favorite tunes and dance! Before you realize it, you’ll feel happy and your tension will just slip away.

  • Join a group-

Find a local group that you’re interested in going to. Maybe it’s a book club, a mommy support group, a spinningclass or zumba class. Whatever it is, it involves leaving the home and connecting with others. Plus, you’re doing something that you like at the same time!

  • Make time to give thanks-

Making time to think about what you’re thankful for can be a great way to recharge. We often devote a considerable lot of time to considering the bad parts of our lives. Unfortunately, this is not a helpful way to change things or to feel more positive. There’s always something to be grateful for. You may be glad that your family is safe, that you have a job, or that you were able to send your children to school without incident. Creating a list of things for which you are grateful may truly put things in perspective and improve your attitude!

Self-care is crucial for all individuals. You are important enough to merit making the effort. Even if you can only take care of yourself for 15 minutes a day, it will do wonders for your stress level and your mood. Developing a self-care regimen may be important. If it is only likely to get done if it’s on the schedule, then schedule it in. Don’t over think it. Important is to enjoy oneself and unwind. Self-care is not meant to be burdensome. Never forget that taking care of others is impossible without first taking care of yourself. Have any more self-care ideas?
